Viji is a mature 11 year old. According to the text, Viji’s sister Rukku is a year older than her but Viji is the one who looks out for her big sister. One moment when Viji was being mature was when Rukku was screaming for her doll Marapachi so Viji yelled saying “she’s not here because you threw her at the bad man remember”. Then Rukku sat down with a frown on her face and then Rukku ran into a puppy that she named kutti and Viji let her older sister keep the puppy and said “sorry” like a mature person would do. She also was mature because she helped out with the two boys Muthu and Arul by brushing their hair. Viji is also is mature for taking care of three kids and a puppy even if they were older than her. That’s why Viji is a mature 11 year old.

I think that Viji and Amma should have not left. According to the text, a strange man grabbed Viji’s arm and twisted it really hard. One reason why they should have not leave is because it is unsafe for them to travel to a places unknown without knowledge of the area. It can be dangerous for young kids like them to be in a large city without guidance. They should be more appreciative of their current home and save up their money.

Andy

Andy is my favorite character because even if he did not have a good start he learned his lesson and realized what a scoundrel he was to everyone.

I liked the part when Jordan signed Andy’s yearbook because no one else did because Andy was rude to a lot of people even Jordan but even though Jordan new that Andy was rude he wanted to be respectful

Author’s Purpose

I think the author’s purpose was to teach you to accept people for they are on the inside and not on the outside.

When school starts again Andy and Jordan will become good friends. According to the text, it said that Andy responded to Jordan saying “have a great summer” because Jordan signed his year book while nobody else did. The reason why they will become friends is because Andy will realize how disrespectful he was to Jordan repaying him by being his friend. The other reason is that Andy and Jordan were already friends it’s just they didn’t have a great start because Jordan liked to hang out with Drew and Andy did not adore Drew. The final reason why is because both Jordan and Andy did not get to know each other very well so they didn’t hang out as much because they were not used to each other. Those are the reasons why Andy and Jordan will become good friends.

Jordan does not realize that he is the most popular because he is modest. According to the book, it showed all the cool kids hanging out with Jordan. One reason why he is the most popular is because he knows all the popular kids. Another reason why is because everyone admires Jordan’s work. My last reason is because he does not get mocked like the other kids in his school and does not mock others.

In my opinion Jordan will find something new he enjoys other than art. According to the text it showed Jordan getting hit with a soccer ball. It looked like he was in pain but it lead his team to getting their first goal which brought excitement. When participating in activities you learn to take a risk. Due to this he will find other activities he likes besides art. His ability to try new things which allows him to start enjoying and expressing who and what he can accomplish. For example soccer was not my favorite activity but when I started playing I started to enjoy it and now have grown to love it, just as Jordan will.

The German Soldiers are selfish. According to the text when Annemarie was delivering a package to Uncle Henrik and when the soldiers stopped Annemarie, they took her bread and cheese that she was going to deliver to Uncle Henrik and fed it to the dogs during that moment Annemarie felt angry and sad at the same time. Another reason why the soldiers are selfish is because they are taking all the there food supply that they enjoy for an example there meat, butter, and sweets. My last reason why the soldiers are selfish is they treat everyone unfairly and only care for themselves. Those are my reasons why the German Soldiers are selfish.

Jordan loves art. According to the text it said that Jordan wanted to go to art school but his parents transferred him to a new school. Jordan drew a picture of the school but he drew all the classes in action. Then Jordan got to meet their new neighbors and Jordan used his dads tips for being a man by shaking hands, first look at them in the eyes and then greet them. Afterwards Jordan’s dad shook Mr. Landers hand and it made a crunch sound, Mr. Landers was in pain. According to the text Mr. Landers said, “please to-uffff.” That showed me that he was in pain. Finally they started to drive off and Jordan’s mom yelled, “BYE, BABYYYY!!”

During our vacation my family and I went to Walker, Minnesota to spend 2 weeks hanging on the beach and fish with cousins and Minnesota friends! I was fishing with my cousin Brady and he caught a huge Sunfish and it brought so much joy to us. Brady and I were teaching the younger cousins how to catch crayfish and I was able to pick it up off the dock but it pinched me and I felt anxious and I dropped it quickly. We enjoyed everyday on the beach swimming, jumping off the Lily Pad with friends and cousins, paddling a kayak and had my first Jet Ski ride!! We even went tubing behind the Jet Ski and I fell off for the first time ever, and was screaming because of my fear of large muskies in the water!! After that experience I knew that nothing bad would happen to me if I fell off again. We spent many hot days on the beach that I was dripping with sweat from the hot sun and running around with all our friends. So to refresh ourselves we would go into the lodge and get drinks and ice cream, when you’re on vacation you get to have ice cream for breakfast. This is my families annual tradition going up to Leech Lake and spending time with family and friends.

I gave this book five stars because I like how Omar is a good influence to Hassan and that he protects him with all his heart. Sometimes Omar gets angry at Hassan sometimes but he still loves him. this is why I gave this book five stars.

Omar

Omar is my favorite character because he reminds me of me and my sister sometimes are lovable but sometimes we argue with each other like Omar did and Hassan.

Omar Telling His Brother Not To Cry

My favorite part was when Omar was looking for Hassan and then he found him with Tall Ali. Tall Ali was making fun of hassan and ten Tall Ali left and Omar hugged Hassan and said don’t cry that is why this is my favorite part about the book.

Authors purpose

I think the authors purpose was to show us when your working hard or think to hard you forget whats happening around you. Like when Omar was working to hard in school because of the exam he did not realize that his brother was sad and one day he got hurt because Omar did not watch him he was working on school work I think that is the authors purpose.
